Ned Kahn, Upwelling

2004, Emerald Glen Park, Dublin, CA

Ned collaborated with the landscape architect for Emerald Glen Park to use the energy of the sun to power a water feature in the lake at the southeast corner of the site. The artwork is powered by photovoltaic solar panels to convert sunlight into power to activate the fountain elements in the lake.

In addition to being beautiful and entertaining, the artwork provides a number of environmental benefits to the park. As well as being solar powered, the water elements will serve to aerate the lake water and create circulation to prevent algae blooms and stagnation.
