Robert Arneson, Pedestals for Self-Evaluation

1992-1999, Saunders Court, UCSF

The set of four bronze sculptures were cast from ceramic works created as part of one of his last series in 1992. The sculptures, titled “Base for Easy Listening,” “Column for a Toupee,” “Head Stand for Naught,” and “Pedestal for Self-Evaluation” playfully combine classical column forms with Arneson's self-portrait. Arneson began using his own image in his work in 1965 and continued throughout his career.
